50 gamechangers: Super Time Force
Super Time Force
Developer: Capybara Games
Are you worrying how Capybara Games will be able to follow Critter Crunch, Clash of Heroes and Superbrothers? Then you’ve obviously never heard of Super Time Force. Imagine Contra. Imagine yourself dying. Imagine that every time you die and start over all your previous lives will tag along like ghostly companions and fellow soldiers. Imagine that.

The video titled Super Time Force 101 uses the term “single-player co-op”, which seems like an extremely proper word. Born from a game jam where the theme was “what just happend” the game nearly didn’t happen. The mechanic was explored cautiously with little commitment, but after a while the potential apparently caught on and the title was pushed into full-scale development. We’re currently reaching the end of 2013, yet the game has not yet updated it’s release date more than moving it from 2012 to 2013. The gameplay looks a little difficult to explain, but we keep thinking of a more pixelated version of Metal Slug or Contra with many more players. Just remember that all the players are controlled by you, one at a time.
