The games in the middle
Some games get an indie stamp just based on the fact that they’re released as a minor title on a download service. But according to different definitions they’re not really indie, are they? thatgamecompany is backed by Sony for their PSN titles, such as flower and Journey. Deadlight, by developer Tequila Works, was backed by Microsoft Studios and lists them as its publisher, yet it still turns up in the indie section.
That’s why your aid is needed.
You can see this wide gray area will leave the project with some questions to be answer, and sometimes a game that isn’t actually indie will slip in, while a game that should be included will slip out. That’s why your aid is needed. To determine if a game really is indie or should be classified as what we’ll refer to as “commercial”, titles that are difficult to file will be up for vote. You can see all the games that are up for vote here. A game that is listed will only be played if it has a majority of votes indicating that it really is an indie title. This also means that a game can shift between indie or corporate before it’s up, or even while it’s up, but let’s hope the votes aren’t too difficult.
