50 gamechangers: Spy Party
Developer: Chris Hecker
Call it a turing-test in a tux. One player aims their scope at a cocktail party where a spy is hiding amongst the other AI guests. The other player is the spy who’s goal simply is to remain incognito. If the best games are the hardest to pitch then Spy Party is a good candidate: “a game about subtle behavior, observations, acting and cunning”.

The official website sports a very simple question in the FAQ: When are you shipping?
The answer is just as simple: I don’t know.
Luckily enough these days the game is in open beta, so you can download and try it right now if you wish to, as long as you pay up for the early access. That does however include a promise of a finished game, so when that goal is reached you’d be all set. No word on what the final platforms are going to be, but the goal is PC, Mac, XBLA and PSN. There’s also some inquiries going on to see if the asymmetrical gameplay would play well on the Wii U, seeing as the control pad may be the perfect peripheral for local multiplayer on the couch.
But no matter what we say, this game can not be illustrated better than this episode of Hey Ash.
