50 gamechangers: Retro City Rampage

It would be simple to stare down at Brian Provinciano’s pixelated world and believe he’s settled for a parody of early GTA. Until you hear him talk about the game.
– People that play it will get to know me, there are winks at my childhood in the game. But there are also comments on the food industry, and the social questions we carry.
Alright, still very much like GTA

Retro City Rampage saw its release on PC and PSN on October 9 of 2012, and later went on to 360 and Wii in the early part of 2013, and has a 3DS release scheduled for the holidays of 2013. The game had a lot of potential to make waves, but it never really got the attention that GTA did. Most likely times are different than when we saw the release of the first release in the series from Rockstar. What we have now seems to be a great mix of references to nostalgia from the early days of video games, but wether or not that is enough is for the person behind the controller to decide. The game clocked in at 71 over on metacritic and the reviews differ wildly. Some critics praise the parody, nostalgia and gameplay while others hold these things up as the game’s shortcomings. But if nostalgia is your thing then you may want to check out the prototype: ROM City Rampage. It’s developed to work fully as an NES ROM.
